About Central Michigan Community Hospital

Central Michigan Community Hospital (CMCH) is a 118-bed acute care hospital located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. CMCH is a not-for-profit, locally-governed community hospital, offering a full range of health and wellness services from the Hospital campus and off-site locations. With its wide array of services and programs, CMCH is recognized as an accessible and dependable source for quality medical care for the residents of Isabella County and central Michigan.

CMCH is licensed by the Michigan Department of Public Health and holds high marks of accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). CMCH is also accredited by the American Academy of Blood Banks.

Today, we have approximately 60 Active Medical Staff physicians. CMCH has over 150 courtesy, consulting, adjunct, and honorary and health professional affiliates. We continue to be one of the largest employers in the region with more than 650 employees, and another 200 volunteers.

Once again, CMCH was named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals® in 2011 by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare. CMCH was selected from nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide as an example for other healthcare organizations to follow. CMCH received high marks from the Thomson Reuters study in factors such as adherence to clinical standards of care, patient safety, patient satisfaction, operational efficiency and financial stability.

CMCH announced its merger with McLaren Health Care September 29, 2010, which secures the future of the Isabella County hospital while joining it with one of the top 25 health care systems in the United States.

The 7,000 square foot Heart & Vascular Center, which is located on the first floor of the hospital, includes a lab that supports low risk cardiac catheterization procedures, as well as a wide range of minimally invasive peripheral vascular procedures. Other areas within the center include physician office space for cardiologists and an endovascular surgeon, along with areas for non-invasive diagnostic services such as stress testing, nuclear medicine and ultrasound procedures. The new Heart & Vascular Center officially opened July 1, 2010.

The Norval K. Morey Cancer Center celebrated its 5 year anniversary in September 2010. The center, now a part of the Great Lakes Cancer Institute, opened in 2005, offering both radiation and chemotherapy treatment. CMCH also installed a new fixed MRI unit.

In 2008, CMCH and Central Michigan Orthopaedics (Drs. Keating, Lilly and Moutsatson) partnered to offer a new comprehensive joint replacement program. The Central Michigan Joint Replacement Program offers an all-inclusive, planned course of treatment for individuals who undergo a total joint replacement with a strong focus on wellness, not sickness. Educational seminars are held monthly and are available for anyone interested in learning more about a total joint replacement.

In 2008, CMCH completely renovated the obstetrics unit into a modern day Family Birthing Center. The center now offers the amenities of home with beautifully decorated private rooms as well as state-of-the-art central monitoring of laboring moms. The Family Birthing Center consistently receives high patient satisfaction scores.

In 2007, the Norval K. Morey Cancer Center received two five star awards from the American Cancer Society. The hospital also installed a digital mammography system to provide our patients with the best possible breast imaging and comfort, with lower X-ray dosage.

In 2007, CMCH joined Partners for Children's Health, an affiliation with Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in an effort to improve the care of children and families throughout the region.

In 2006, CMCH became a tobacco free campus. Tobacco use is now prohibited anywhere in the buildings or on the grounds owned or leased by CMCH. The hospital also opened the Central Michigan Health Park. The medical park currently houses four medical office buildings.

History Of Central Michigan Community Hospital

** A History of Philanthropy **
Built in 1943, Central Michigan Community Hospital is a 118-bed acute care hospital. A community-based, locally governed organization, CMCH is committed to the health and wellness of the residents of central Michigan. The hospital was originally established through the dedication of local physicians and patrons who worked hard to raise money in a challenge from the Commonwealth Fund, a foundation which helped communities establish hospitals. Financial support in the '50s, '60s and '70s helped expand CMCH to meet the growing needs of Isabella County residents.
